The Awareness Campaigns in Government & Private Authorities Allover United Arab Emirates

Emirates Thalassemia Society organized multiple awareness campaigns with further distribution of brochures and awareness magazines as well as conducting awareness lectures on Thalassemia in cooperation with the doctors and specialists in hematology department from different hospitals in UAE.

The campaign ‘Future free of Thalassemia… test to be safe’ took places in the following places:

Zayed Bin Mohammed Family Gathering, Dubai Customs, Awareness Day for Jumeira Group employees, Awareness day for National Bank of Abu Dhabi employees, Sharjah Municipality, Public Health Department staff, UAE University students, Ajman University students and many other important government and private offices. An essential part of this mass awareness campaign was the onsite premarital tests for more than 1000 individuals in order to check the incidence of Thalassemia carriers. These generous free premarital tests were under taken in cooperation with the company Super Religare Laboratories in order to

raise awareness of the importance of doing a premarital test to avoid new born cases of Thalassemia. It is also worth mentioning the active role of the Dubai Police General Command in strengthening this Thalassemia awareness campaign and active participation to serve the community members and raise awareness. Thalassemia prevention lectures were also given in the Dubai Police Academy by the Thalassemia specialists. Our cooperation with the Dubai Police went a step further when a Thalassemia designed slogan and posters were set on Dubai Police vehicles for the campaign. ..

And we cannot forget the role of the Union Cooperative Society (a consumer cooperative) in supporting Emirates Thalassemia Society by printing the Society Logo on their shopping bags, as well as displaying it on the cashier screens on their cash counters. The employees of the Union Coop also showed further support by dressing their staff members with unified T Shirts with the Society Logo printed on them.
