Under the kind patronage of the wife of His Highness Dr Sheikh  Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor of His Highness President of The State, Her Highness Sheikha  Sheikha Bint Saif Al-Nahyan, Chair Person of Emirates Thalassemia Society, in association with Emirates Thalassemia Society, the First Emirates Thalassemia Social Forum For Arab & Gulf Region was held from 6th till 8th May 2012. 

Her Highness did the honors of opening the social forum and the exhibition area which included important participations from gulf countries and Arab States. The Forum included workshops on how to provide social support to Thalassemia patients and how to limit Thalassemia disorder with innovative society methods. The Society presented its experiences through very informative presentations and roundtable discussions targeting social issues on the first two days of the forum. The third day was an open day to mark the occasion of International Thalassemia Day where the presentation halls turned into Thalassemia Entertainment City. The day included recreational activities for the patients and families which also included workshops for the care givers of different Thalassemia centers and hospitals who provide their services to the patient in UAE. All the generous sponsors, volunteers and supports were also honored in an ‘Appreciation Ceremony’. An amazing Open Bus City tour was also arranged for the participants to experience the Dubai metropolitan city hubs such as Burj Khalifa, Arab Tower, Atlantis Hotel and others.
