Emirates Thalassemia Society organized a beautiful ceremony to honor mothers who are Thalassemia patients on the occasion of Mother's Day, simultaneously continuing the initiatives of ‘Year of Zayed’. The ceremony was held at the premises of Emirates Thalassemia Society, where the Mother of Thalassemia, as she is labeled, Mrs. Khalida Khammas- Board Member, CEO and Executive Secretary, along with a group of Thalassemia patients volunteers welcomed the mothers with flowers, cakes and balloons and distributed gifts amongst them respectfully. A cake cutting ceremony also took place where a cake was designed specially to represent the Mothers’ Day occasion, highlighting the great works the mothers put in whether in their social roles as mothers or in the practical work of women workers.
In her statement, Mrs. Khalida Khammas stressed that the society has always participated in the celebration of public events such as national, religious, social or even special events every year. Based on its vision, mission, human and societal responsibilities towards Thalassemia patients, the society aims to enhance the communication amongst the patients in lining with the directives of HH Sheikha Sheikha Bint Saif Al Nahyan, Chair Person of Emirates Thalassemia Society.
She further added that Mother's Day is especially symbolic because of the importance of the role played by the mothers in particular and in general. Therefore, we shared their joy by alleviating their sufferings and gifting them with lots of joy and pleasure to their hearts, especially as these mothers were also patients with Thalassemia.
