Based on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin ZayedAl Nahyan, President of UAE, to mark 2018 as the year of Zayed, EmiratesThalassemia Society took an initiative to celebrate the late founding leaderSheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s vision where he held immense local andinternational achievements and his love for charity work, where he never left astone in generosity and was a unique role model in giving back to humanity andwas a benevolent personality and was so important to the needy and ordinary people. Point in view, EmiratesThalassemia Society therefore, adopted several initiatives for this year, themain objective of which is to focus on supporting Thalassemia patients from allaspects of their lives, such as financial support, educational subsidy, etc.  In order to ease the sufferings of Thalassemiapatients, we organized a full day fun trip for them in collaboration with theDubai Parks and Resorts. The officials of the Dubai Parks and Resorts cordiallywelcomed our patients with the VIP service for a full day full access to all theirparks along with the delegation of the Emirates Thalassemia Society  Board Members, namely: Mr  Abdul Baset Mohammed Merdas- Vice Chairman,Mrs Khalida Khammas- CEO and Executive Secretary,  Dr Khalid Khoury- Finance Director, alongwith the cordial presence of Her excellency Eng. Azza Suleiman, Member of the UAEFederal National Council and the very active Media Presenter Mrs Manal Ahmed-Ambassador Thalassemia UAE. Each of these members were coupled with one Adultor child Thalassemia patients and successfully created a special bond by theend of the day after having lots of fun throughout the day. The delegation washeaded by Mr Abdul Baset Mohammed Merdas, Vice Chairman of the EmiratesThalassemia Society.

Mrs. Khalida Khammas,  CEO and Executive Secretary of EmiratesThalassemia Society, stressed the keenness of the society to adopt and launchmany initiatives as part of the ‘Year of Zayed’. She pointed out that thesociety has put all its interests in the implementation of the directives ofHis Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and noted: "The HighCommissioner believes that the directives of HH Sheikh Zayed dedicate theconcept of charity and humanitarian work and establish the legacy of the lateSheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan towards the importance of the humanitarianworks. The society successfully eliminated the patients’ sufferings and liftedtheir spirits during the entire trip. The presence and participation of the theBoard Members, HE  Azza Sulaiman andMedia Presenter Manal Ahmad exceeded the expectations, where they were seen playingvarious games and creating special bonds by eating and talking to each otherlike a whole big family. Mrs Khalida Khammas thanked the management of the DubaiParks and Resorts for their wonderful reception and VIP treatment which madethe patients feel really special and happy.

Mr Abdul Baset Mohammed Merdas, Vice Chairman of EmiratesThalassemia, said that the Zayed Society's initiatives are a good step toinform the generations of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and hiswonderful  journey of our dear homelandto draw lessons and lessons from the lives of the founding leader and spreadthem in the spirits of the new generations to root the principles of the youngZayed to lead a happy and satisfactory life!
